Transparent PNG for T-Shirt Printing — DTG Checklist
Need a transparent PNG for t-shirt printing that does not leave a black or checkerboard square on fabric? Follow this short CashPilot checklist.
The trap: fake transparency
Many AI downloads look “transparent” because they show gray/white squares — but those squares are painted pixels, not alpha. DTG printers print them.
Checklist
- Extract the art — Design Extractor (Circle badge or Auto trim).
- Confirm shirt preview — sides must stay empty on dark swatches.
- Optional circle frame — Image Cropper → Circle for round badges.
- Photo subjects — Background Remover when you need a cutout person/product.
- Download PNG only — never re-save as JPG before print.
- Upload to your print shop / Canva / Printful as PNG.

Frequently asked questions
Why do shirts show a square box around my design?
Usually the file still has opaque corners (black) or a fake gray/white checkerboard painted into a JPG/PNG. Printers treat those pixels as ink.
PNG or JPG for DTG?
Always PNG with real transparency. JPG cannot store alpha and fills empty areas with a solid color.
Which CashPilot tools help?
Design Extractor removes sides and fake checkers; Image Cropper Circle exports a round transparent PNG; Background Remover helps on photo subjects.
